Turning vinegar into wine

When you’re touting your design services, you need a workspace that reflects your firm’s creativity. Perkins+Will awarded the upfit of their 9,100 sf new office space in the Chamber of Commerce building to Tyler 2 through a competitive bid process. They called their innovative design approach to this space ‘Vinegar Based Design’.

The challenge:

Sometimes it’s the simplest details that are the hardest to pull off gracefully, especially when you are working in a space that’s been through numerous tenant upfits.

Perkins+Will’s vision called for stripped concrete floors and demolition of all perimeter offices in the space to create a bright, inspiring, and modern yet rustic environment.  Semi-translucent polycarbonate ceiling tiles hint at the workings above the ceiling while reflecting the space’s natural light.

The end result:

Tyler 2 created a fuss-free, high-end office space worthy of this world renowned architectural firm. The specified polycarbonate ceiling tiles were a new, cutting-edge material. Tyler 2 coordinated with the fire marshal to provide the documentation necessary for approval of their use.  Due to the utilitarian nature of the design and specialized material selections, we worked closely with Perkins+Will to ensure they stayed within their budget and  tight 10-week schedule.
